April Favorites

Where on Earth did April go? I swear we were all complaining that January lasted 12 years but now I blinked and April is over.

Just like may you have a new playlist to listen to of all my April jams as well as a round up of products, things, a bag, skincare, and a coffee I've been loving lately.

Here's what I loved in April:

My new Starbucks go to: I tend to feel like crap after drinking Starbucks drinks with a ton of artificial flavoring and syrups. So,  my new order is all natural. If you want to give it a try its a grande latte with 4 honey packets and cinnamon steamed in. So good!

Origins Drink Up Overnight Mask: I purchased this during the Sephora VIB sale and am obsessed. My skin isn't necessarily dry but I love waking up and it being plump and moisturized. Also, this smells like mangos.

Skinny Sunnies: These especially have been a super fun accessory to toss on to amp up a basic outfit. Too bad this exact pair is sold out until around June but there are so many out there

Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Serum: This serum is pricy but so worth it. Apparently the Sephora website says it claims to be 62 times more effective than vitamin C serums. Where do they even get that number, that is so specific..? But per the website its a "highly concentrated, natural, oil free serum that fights dark spots, evens skin tone and boosts radiance. I have my roommate hooked its that good. Definitely worth the splurge

Ouai Dry Texture Foam: I wish I had this when I wrote my last blog post on my go to texturizing products . It's my new found love. Not only does it smell amazing but it gives my roots and ends a little bit on oomph. I love it.

Vitamin C Serum: I've used this product for about 2 years now and still love it. It gets forgotten behind my other skin care but this month I've brought it from the back and its back to being a staple in my skin care routine. Im all about that radiance.

Neutrogena Deep Clean Purifying Cleanser & Mask:  This 2 in one is so cheap and so good. When used as a mask its so cooling and purifying. When used as a cleaner its also cooling due to the salicylic acid in it. Deep cleans pores and fights acne while feeling cool on the skin for $7 I'm obsessed.

Mario Badescu Ceramide Eye Gel:  I could sleep for 12 hours and still wake up with dark circles. This product is cooling, hydrating and gentle under the eyes.

My new rings: Recently I "re-designed" my hands. If you know me you know I never take off my rings, I have perpetual tan lines from them. They're a part of my being. So, I needed a little revamp and decided to stop into Mad Eagle in downtown East Lansing to pick up some new babes. I love unique rings and supporting local businesses so of course Mad Eagle was my one stop shop.

Rai Crossbody: Last but certainly not least, my bag from Mahisi... it has not left my hip since they sent it my way. Its a new staple and I have gotten countless compliments on it.

What were you loving in April, let a sista know so I can check them out too!

Behind the Name

So, normally when in you are in high school and are assigned a book to read in your AP English class you kind of want to die a little bit. I for sure felt that about Brave New World by Aldous Huxley. I am the type of person that hates the books I am forced to read but love to read when its my choice. So, here I am a junior in high school cursing my teacher under my breath for assigning this dystopian novel hating every second of it.

I really can't explain how the words "scandalously unpunctual" stuck with me as I was reading. Truly the line in the book has nothing what so ever to the meaning it gave me but in the book the line is "These Atlantic services- they're really scandalously unpunctual." Like I said, totally irrelevant. But it stuck, hard.

When launching my blog I tossed around so many ideas but eventually came back to those 2 words that just stuck in my head and truly captured who I am as a person and my style.

If you didn't know me in high school I was scandalous to say the lease. Our school courtyard was made of uneven bricks from at least the 1960s and here I was strutting around in wedges and heels acting like my ankles weren't about to break. I surely was unpunctual too, never going to class although I had only 2 classes a day. And when I wasn't in class I was probably with my best friend Christina  (who also wore wedges to school) getting $1 Arizona green teas and jamming out to Dolce & Gabbana by Riff Raff.

When naming my blog I wanted it to describe not only me but its purpose to the people who would hopefully read a post or 2. All in all, I wanted my blog to inspire you in someway. But hopefully in a way that inspires you to dress and be a little more scandalous and become a hell of a lot more unpunctual.

So, although I probably spark noted the whole book I read enough to find 2 words that have been locked in my head since.

Yep, I'm a nerd. Yep, I named my blog after words in a book. Judge me.

My Texture and Volume Must Haves

When it comes to my hair I can't seem to kill it. Many of you would say that its a blessing but truthfully it's not all that its chopped up to be and its a giant pain to get some volume into my hair.

My hair is super thick and heavy, so, even if I try and spray hair spray in it it will eventually fall straight and glossy, which to me is not the look I am trying to achieve. I try and go for a messy, lived in look, kind of like you rode around with your head out the window of a car to be honest.

So, when trying to achieve volume I look for light weight products that won't weight my already heavy hair down while focusing on volume at the roots and texture throughout.

Heres' what I use to do so:

Dry Shampoo:
When I decide to style my hair I can usually ride it out for 3-4 days with the help from dry shampoo, and it adds a little grit which I'm fond of. After trying probably 15 dry shampoos I've narrowed it down to my 2 favorites that smell amazing, are cost effective and leave no white cast:
- Not Your Mothers Clean Freak: I have a travel size of this in my backpack and car its that good
-Dove Detox and Purify: This feels refreshing on the scalp and the scent lasts all day

Volume and Texturizers: (definitely not a real word but lets roll with it)
Roots: To give my roots that lift I SWEAR by these 2:
-R&Co Badlands Dry Shampoo Paste: yep, its a paste, you scoop it out, rub it between your hands and it turns into an oil practically, it dries down and give so much grit and texture I love it, their packaging is amazing and it smells great too. Also, it can work on the ends of your hair too to achieve that beachiness.
-Purology Pure Volume: again, smells amazing, lifts the roots, and does what it promises
Everywhere else: for overall texture I use:

Here's a tip: At Ulta, Not Your Mothers brand is almost always BOGO 50% off, if you're in the market and they're not on sale just wait because there already so inexpensive that they become an insane bargain once on sale.

What's In My Bag?

I recently purchased this purse when at Target, because Target just knows how to murder my wallet. But, this bag will be perfect for my internship this summer in Chicago. It can hold my massive iPad with ease and has a front pocket so my keys and phone are easily accessible. Also it zippers on the top locking everything in, and it was super inexpensive so if it gets banged up I won't be heartbroken. Currently restraining myself from buying it in black, I just love it that much.

So, on to the good stuff... Here's what I keep in my bottomless pit of a purse:

The Necessities:
-A planner: I use this one as a day to day planner, its laid out like a dream and not to mention the cover is damn cute
-My iPad and Pencil: ever since purchasing these bad boys my Mac has been collecting dust
-My Wallet: obviously this is a given
-Sunglasses: These are a cheaper alternative for some RayBans because I normally just toss my sunglasses in my bag
-Key Holder: I keep all my keys that I dont use too frequently in this little snap case, it keeps my key ring pretty simple and helps me avoid my keys scratching things in my purse such as the iPad, my phone, etc.

The Lips:
Okay do not judge me on this! I have a reasoning...so, if I choose a lip to wear I apply it in the morning and put it in my purse to reapply throughout the day. I then forget about it and I end up having 11 lipsticks in my purse, all practically the same shade. You can never have too many pinky-nudes right...?

The Perfumes:
How I smell depends on my mood I guess is how I'll justify this

The Randomness:
-Secret Deodorant Ball: this this is awesome especially since I work like 13 hour days
-Mini Tabasco: I have no explanation for this
-Gum: I drink too much coffee

So, here's the 5 pounds of randomness I carry on my shoulder everyday. What are some of the things you can't live without having in your purse?

PS: if you also have a baby Tabasco in your purse we should be best friends
