March Favorites

Truthfully, what happened to March? It feels like I blinked and it was over, as cliche as that sounds. Although this month flew by I did have sometime to discover some new goodies to add to my routine.
Im on this new kick of self-love if thats what you wanna call it. Ive been making more time for myself, allowing myself to be more creative and just let my mind relax from my busy routine of 3 jobs and school. Here are some of my March favs, let me know yours, I always am on the look out for new goodies to try!

My custom illustrations by Gemma Darr: you probably noticed my new logo/illustration at the top of my website, and my tagline at the end of this post. I am so dang obsessed! Not only is Gemma a double major blogger boss babe, she's also an illustrator and if you're looking for something unique look no further than here

Vitamin D3: Grandma status= achieved. But on a real note, I got my regular blood work done for my thyroid disease (fun) and was recommended that I take D3 everyday and holy hell what a difference. I wake up feeling so refreshed and ready to tackle my day. I think its my new cure to the winter seasonal depression. And its a vitamin, so it can't hurt, right?

Dove Detox & Purify Dry Shampoo: I have probably tried 25 different dry shampoo and nothing compares to this one. It sounds so weird but I get compliments on how my hair smells when I use it. It does its job, feels almost refreshing on the scalp and doesn't feel heavy, even after using it for a few days straight.

Sea Salt Vanilla Candle: I have a hard time burning my spring floral candles the second the season changes. Like a good transitional wardrobe peice like the blazer in this post, I love myself a good transitional candle like this one. It smells amazing and burns so well.

Clinique Take the Day Off Balm: As we all know, makeup wipes can get real expensive real quick and most of the times my face doesn't feel that clean after. But, I haven't touched makeup wipes in over 3 months after finding this gem. Its a balm that melts the makeup on your face when used when your face is dry and it gets every speck of makeup, including waterproof mascara. Its amazing and I haven't even dented mine after using it for 3 months.

Shinola Journal: I bought this bad boy on a girls trip to Detroit last weekend. The fact that the pages are blank just soothes my soul. I'm using as a "creative brain dump". If you didn't see it on my insta check it out here, I had the word "orenda" pressed into the front, meaning "a mystical force present in all people that empowers them to effect the world or effect change in their own life". I'm obsessed but also scared to write in it because my handwriting isn't the cutest.

MARCH PLAYLIST: Last but not least, I asked in a recent Instagram poll if you guys would be interested in monthly playlists created my me and my all over the place sense of music. Ask and you shall receive... HERE is the first month. I am open to all song/artist suggestions I need some new music in my life.

Western and Houndstooth

Michigan spring weather is the type where its freezing cold in the morning and warm as the day goes on, it kind of gives you the misconception that its fall... I’m avoiding my parka as much as possible and in exchange layering up with some stylish alternatives I can easily toss in my backpack or car as the day gets warmer.

These pictures were taken throughout a girls day full of shooting pics, chowing down on Shake Shack and a little thrifting in Detroit. We started in the morning when it was still kind of chilly outside, I’m talking like 30 degrees chilly. I looove me some good transitional pieces so I decided to I layered a houndstooth blazer over this cardigan with a tee underneath, so, throughout the day as we were walking, shopping, and grabbing chow I was always ready to add or take off layers to stay comfy.

Also, these boots are my newest obsession. They're so reasonably priced, comfy as hell, and not real leather so I've been able to wear them in Michigan's unpredictable weather without worrying about ruining them or getting them covered in salt stains. Not to mention they're western and I'm 110% on board with the western vibes that'll be hitting the streets this spring.

Winter Whites

I’d love to say that I love Michigan whole-heartedly but that is not the case right now. It’s the middle of March and this NC girl is ready for some sun (and warmth). I’m thinking that if I wear dresses even though it’s actually 30 outside that slowly the season will change? Doubtful but hopeful.

I hate dumping a bunch of moola on the new trends each season, especially when it'll be out of season when spring rolls around the following year. When it comes to revamping my wardrobe for this spring I’ve been obsessing over Belle Row Boutique out of Lansing. They have the perfect mix prints from florals to gingham but also a lil funk which we all know I love and seek out. But don’t worry NC peeps, you can shop all the goodness here

This dress and jacket are both from Belle Row and came in at under $100 for both pieces total. Seriously such an affordable one stop shop that wont break the bank. You get the boutique quality without the price tag that comes with the typical boutique shopping. And not to mention you'd be supporting your local girl gang and small businesses. That’s the goal right?
