Casual Layering- My Go To Combo

I'm always moving, I really don't know why but I make my days so busy. I just love being on the go, being around people, and just seizing the day.

When I'm on the go I always try to be cozy and casual; layering is just the thing that achieves both for me. Heres my go to combination for the perfectly casual layered outfit:

Graphic Sweatshirts:
I gawked over Sub_Urban Riot's graphic tees and sweatshirts since discovering them in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. I went a little nuts when it came to that sale and unfortunately didn't get anything then. Until I was at Morgan Miller in Downtown Southern Pines (NC) and saw this sweatshirt. I had to have it. I also got this tee and I'm obsessed to say the least.

Here are some other Sub_Urban Riot sweatshirts I'm eyeing up:

Flannels:
Definitely a must have in every closet... If you don't have one, or ten, you're missing out and thats just sad.

Other options:

Cardigans:
Another must have, there are so many different options when it comes to cardigans but I always go for ones that are a tad bit longer in length.

Here's a few options:

70 Degrees and No Mistletoe

I contemplated taking a break from posting while home for the holidays. Not for the fact that I would need a break but more or less not to confuse you guys. I literally went from a foot or so of snow to 70 degrees in a one hour flight. I totally packed wrong.

I packed all the sweaters, scarves, and coziness for my vacay at home but thankfully I tossed in this floral bit from LOFT (which unfortunately is discontinued).  I still wanted to winterize my outfit, it doesn't even feel like Christmas here in the south. Is it too late to pray for snow?

Until Christmas, if you need me I'll be sleeping in inside out and backward pjs with a spoon under my pillow.

Ps: It was so warm I got in the fountain to cool off, true story.

Frosted Denim

You would think that this outfit was strategically styled and chosen but that is not the case. Turns out this turtleneck body suit was hanging up right beside this denim jumpsuit in my closet, which, let me tell you, is a disaster...

I'm making it an effort to mix patterns and textures especially in my daily wardrobe, its too fun and makes for more of a head-turning statement outfit.

As I'm writing this I'm staring outside at the piles of snow, coffee in hand, sad that I'll be leaving all this snow... When this post goes live I'll be back home in sunny lil Pinehurst, NC! Eeek! I'm so excited. Give me all the sunshine and home cooked meals, its been since May, I'm ready!

Baby It's Cold Outside

Just because its absolutely frigid outside and you can't feel your hands doesn't mean you have to compromise your style.

If I'm running errands or know I will be in a public setting I try to avoid my burnt marshmallow lookin' black North Face and opt for something more stylish like this J. Crew wool coat. But yeah, wool is warm and all but not really Michigan warm. So, I tossed my jean jacket on as well as a black knit turtleneck. I'm not even going to go into details with how many layers went under that sweater... we'd be here for hours.

I'll do just about everything from layering 5 shirts under my sweater to doubling up on leggings under my pants to stay warm and still look cute. To me its worth it, but that's just my opinion!

Motor City

I have been on the hunt lately for a sweater, top or anything with trumpet sleeves. Browsing at F21 (like I do almost weekly) I came across this top and immediately knew it was coming home with me. Despite how heavy the sleeves may look, they're actually so easy to move around, even eat in.

Oh and by the way, if you have the chance, you must go to Campus Martius in Detroit. Its so festive I'm highly obsessed. There's literally everything from pop up boutiques to an ice rink. You gotta go.
